Another year reached... 2019
Well, 2019 has been looming on our doorsteps for quite awhile. If you work in any kind of project planning type of industry, you're probably well into working toward deadlines that you can no longer put aside as being "next year".
Both my day job and my writing are future-oriented so having finally made it to January awakens more of an growing dread at those deadlines inching their way toward me than any real excitement of a new year ahead.
Add to all that, is the fact that in Australia it's bloody hot!
I manged to squeeze a few days dedicated to solely to writing after an enforced two week break over Christmas and the New Year period and am happy to say I completed a slab of writing for my next novel as well as the full outline. So now I know how it finishes and all I have to do is fill in the gaps. Also dashed out a few articles and have plans for a book review or two (which means more reading, of course). I’ve a pile of notes on the current affairs of Sydney in late 1882 including theatre, train travel, and odd jobs as well as what was going on in the rest of the world. It was quite interesting and I have some great content for future articles and social media posts.
This week, it’s been back to the day job for me so have been setting my alarm clock extra early to get some writing in before I start at the office – deadlines really are looming.
I hope you’ve all enjoyed the past few weeks and you’ve not been too hot or too cold depending on where in the world you’re located. Next week’s blog post is on occupations of yesteryear. I’ve been having an amusing look at the history of job automation.
Until then, take care.
PS: check out my Friday quotes on Facebook. I’ve been having a lot of fun putting words to images to create inspirational (and sometimes not so inspirational) memes.
